6 things you shouldn't eat if you want to lose weight

body Jan 16, 2018

I hear sometimes people are complaining that they spent a lot of time in the gym working out so hard but they have not seen the result they want. But it turns out, they think they are burning a lot of calories because they did 1-hour cardio; they give themselves permission to eat A LOT. Or they just simply eat a lot of food that are not so good to eat. What are some of those foods that are not so good to eat if you want to lose weight?

1, Canola oil, corn oil, soy bean oil  all vegetable oils

Canola oil contains hydrogenated oils, which cause inflammation throughout the entire body disrupting your hormones and metabolism. And 90% of canola oil is genetically modified (GMO), which means they are hard wired with pesticides that cause cellular toxicity, which destroys your bodies metabolism and overall health.

Instead: Use coconut oil, grass-fed butter to boost your metabolism. Coconut oil is mostly medium chain triglycerides (MCTs). It has been shown that breaking down these types of healthy fats in the liver leads to efficient burning of energy.

Grass-fed butter is the best source of conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), which has been shown to aid in weight loss and weight management, as well as fight against carcinogens.

2, Fruits juice

Do you think drinking fruits juice is good for you? Think again. Most apples, orange and grape juice are made form concentrate. Here is how they make juice from concentrate. First, they press fruits and remove all of the fiber, then they heat it up through pasteurization at 280 degrees, then it’s dried and turned into a concentrate, then finally, they add in sugar, food coloring and flavorings and that is fruits juice you buy today.

One 8-ounce glass of fruit juice contains 30 grams of sugar where a can of soda contains 28 grams of sugar!

Instead: Make fruits infused water. You can mix sliced organic lemon, lime and orange, sometimes cucumber with water if you like you can add little bit of stevia to sweeten your water. Coconut water is naturally sweet and so good for you too.

Bottom line, you need to drink a lot of pure water, not sugar water.

3, Whole Grains

I know many of us believe that those brown whole grains bread is better than white bread… Bread, pasta, cereal, crackers, muffins, desserts, chips and granola bars, those are foods that you really don’t want to eat at all. Three of the main compounds in grains hurt your metabolism includes gluten, starch and phytic acid.  Gluten causes inflammation, starch turns into sugar quickly and phytic acid binds to minerals so you’re not getting most of the minerals and vitamins from whole grains that could have helped your metabolism.

Instead: Eat sprouted grains bread or sourdough bread. You can replace your regular flour with coconut flour or almond flour. Try to replace your daily intake of fiber with fruits and vegetables.

4,Protein bars and Granola bars
When you are in a rush and you have no time to sit and eat real food, you tend to go for a protein bar or a granola bar. But most of them have so much sugar and other carbohydrates. The combination of gluten, phytic acid and processed honey is what makes this treat lethal to your metabolism and diet goals. Make sure you read food labels and make smart choices.

Instead: Try making at home! There are so many recipes that you can find online.

Otherwise, read labels and find the one that tastes good and fits your dietary needs.

5.Artificial sweeteners
People use artificial sweeteners to cut calories, right? Artificial sweeteners tell the lie that you can satisfy your sweet tooth, with no calories, no guilt and a thinner waistline.  However, aspartame is actually linked to 75 % adverse health effects.

Actually, Aspartame as NutraSweet and sucralose as Splenda can stimulate your appetite and increase cravings for carbohydrates. You end up wanting more carbohydrates!

Instead: Try stevia. Stevia is a natural and no-calorie sweetener. You might need to get used to the taste, in the beginning, it can be little bitter but you get used it.

6.Peanut butter

Peanuts butter and jelly sandwich sounds good, does it? Well Peanuts are grown on the soil and stored moist in silos which then cause them to grow a type of fungus called aflatoxins which can affect the health of your gut. Peanuts are also highly allergy food for many people.

Instead: Try almond butter. Almonds are a great source of protein and fat, and taste great!
